In Loving Memory ~

Born February 2, 1949 in Selkirk Manitoba

Died February 24, 2024 in Nanaimo BC

Pre-deceased by wife Janice, sisters Zelda and Marilyn, brother Roy, mother Alvina and father Herbert, as well as mother- and father-in-law Marolyn and James Craig, who welcomed him into the Craig clan with gusto.

Greg and Janice moved from Manitoba to Vancouver Island shortly after their marriage in Winnipeg in 1980. They brought a dog and a cat they'd saved from certain death on the mean streets of Winnipeg. They bought a little house in Ladysmith BC and started a family.

Greg worked a variety of gigs before settling into his long-running career on the green chain in Ladysmith. He and Janice made great friends with the other young families in their neighbourhood and stayed in touch even after the kids grew up.

Greg was a friendly, sensitive person who took time to connect with everyone in his community. It was a treat to help him run his daily errands and see him greet just about everyone he met by name.

He and Janice were dedicated members at Hope Lutheran Church in Nanaimo BC, where Greg will be remembered as the friendly usher quick to bring extra chairs, as a founding member of the men's choir, as a generous parishioner quick to lend a helping hand when needed Greg was a weird and wonderful guy.

He was quiet, funny, humble, generous and honest. Great at cards. Loved to ski. Kind to animals. Really smart. He loved music and shared this love with his kids. He was often heard singing snippets of golden oldies as he puttered around the house or in the garage on one of many classic car projects.

Despite moving west early in their marriage, Greg and Janice always kept a candle burning in their hearts for Manitoba, returning regularly in the summers to connect with friends and family, soak up the prairie landscape, and visit the old homestead.

A celebration of Greg's life will be held at Hope Lutheran Church in Nanaimo on Sat April 13 at 1.30 pm. Thanks for everything, Greg. Love never fails.
