The beat goes on for Lake Days 2011

Lake Days is upon us! The dedicated volunteer committee has been busy since January planning and preparing for Lake Days 2011 - The Beat Goes On!!!

Yes, it’s that time again, everyone.

Lake Days is upon us! The dedicated volunteer committee has been busy since January planning and preparing for Lake Days 2011 - The Beat Goes On!!!

The goal of the Lake Days Celebration Society is to stage a week-long celebration that brings our community together with events that are affordable and appeal to all ages. With every year becoming more popular, we think we as a society are on the right track.

In partnership with the Lady of the Lake Society we have a full week of events that attracts not only locals but friends and family from far and wide.

I have discovered that many people make the trek to Lake Cowichan to attend Lake Days on an annual basis to reunite with family and friends and enjoy the hospitality that our community festival offers.

This year, I am very happy to announce that Lake Days has a website so that everyone has easy access to all that is going on and information and photos from the past. Go to www.cowichanlakedays.com to get information and to take a stroll down memory lane.

I would also like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all the businesses and individuals in the Cowichan Lake area who donate both time and money into making Lake Days a success.

We would not be able to stage such an event without your dedicated support.

It is my belief that all the time, energy, and money put into staging Lake Days pays back in a big way to the social and economic well-being of our area.

While planning Lake Days, the committee always tries to keep in mind the past, present, and future of what has defined this area and brought us to what we are today.

While we may not be the forestry mecca we once were, we still maintain that heritage and must show that off to the many that come to visit us each year.

In a nutshell, that is what Lake Days does.

So, in closing, we once again hope you get out to all the events planned for this week. The Soap Box Derby is back bigger and better this year, as well as the Chainsaw Wood Carving Competition, with the addition of a West Coast Lumberjack Show on Saturday.

The Parade is filling up fast as the big weekend approaches, and Saywell Park will be full of food, fun, amusement rides, kids games, community and home based business booths, as well as a live stage all weekend long.

Saturday evening is the huge Lake Days Dance at the Cowichan Lake Sports Arena, featuring Lake Cowichan’s own Joint Chiefs. You don’t want to miss this show.

Don’t forget to try and attend one or all of the wonderful Lady of the Lake activities, and don’t miss the crowning at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at Saywell Park on the Main Stage.

On Sunday, the park will be in full swing again with the highlight being the entertainment stage and the ever-popular four-on-four Giant Road Hockey Tournament.

Please read through this entire program to see all the event sponsors and organizers additions, as well as a comprehensive schedule of all the events.

See You All Out There while “THE BEAT GOES ON !!!”
