Herb Haldane, who was born and raised in Sooke, is throwing his hat in the ring as a candidate with BC United for the Juan de Fuca-Malahat riding in the upcoming provincial election.
Haldane has a solid background in local government as well as more than 30 years in the construction industry and is looking to use that experience to help build a better tomorrow for the next generation.
“I am honoured to represent BC United and the people of Juan de Fuca-Malahat in the upcoming provincial election,” said Haldane. “Under the current NDP government, our community has faced numerous challenges, from inadequate infrastructure to unsustainable development practices. I am committed to addressing these issues head-on and ensuring that the voices of our residents are heard and represented.”
Haldane is no stranger to representing his community and advocating for the needs of others. In 2008 he was elected to the Sooke District Council and then re-elected in 2011. Over the years he has been actively involved in various community organizations including the Sooke Home Builders Association and the Sooke Community Association, plus he also finds the time to be a dedicated volunteer with the Sooke Legion. Haldane's leadership and volunteer roles in his community are a testament to the unwavering commitment for improving the quality of life for his fellow Sooke residents.
Haldane aims to bring his extensive experience, proven leadership, and deep community ties to a broader platform and if elected will focus on fostering sustainable development, enhancing local infrastructure, and ensuring that the voices of his constituents are not only heard, but also represented.
